Collaborative and Proactive Solutions Workshop Resources

Objectives

Are you parenting a child who becomes frustrated far more easily and more often than “ordinary” kids, and communicate their frustration in ways that are far more extreme-either exploding ( screaming, swearing, spitting, hitting, kicking, biting, cutting, destroying property) or imploding (crying, sulking, pouting, having anxiety attacks, and being blue and withdrawn or cranky and irritable).

Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) is an evidence-based, trauma-informed, neurodiversity affirming model of care that helps caregivers focus on identifying the problems that are causing concerning behaviors in kids and solving those problems collaboratively and proactively. The model created by Dr. Ross Greene (author of The Explosive Child)  is a departure from approaches emphasizing the use of consequences to modify concerning behaviors.

This small group workshop led by Jason Bohn, LCPC will help you to understand your child’s concerning behaviors (considered skill deficits), how to identify unsolved problems, and how to start solving problems collaboratively and proactively (thereby increasing skills).  The hope for each family attending is to leave ready to attempt the CPS process with their challenging child and know how to access follow up support.
